Job Expectations
- Applicant must have a clean driving record and a valid drivers license.

- Typical hours during the construction season are from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
- Construction experience is preferred. However, motivated individuals with little or no experience may be considered.

- Working knowledge of technology such as computers and cellphones or the willingness to learn.

Heavy Equipment Operator
Cole Excavating is a family owned and operated company located in Greene, IA since 1974 and currently employs 20+ people. Due to company and industry growth, we are currently hiring Heavy Equipment Operators. An ideal candidate will meet the following requirements:
- Operate, maneuver, and navigate equipment on jobsites.
- Steady use of hands and arms in positioning levers, switches, and controls. Will also use legs with climbing, lifting, and walking.
- Must be willing to learn how to operate each piece of equipment.
- Will have good hand, eye and foot coordination & reaction time to identify and adjust machine to work in different surroundings.
- Must communicate with other operators .
- Must be willing to use GPS equipment when necessary.
- Will operate equipment to reach specific grade by pushing and/or spreading material.
- Will cut/fill the designated areas up to grade by reading grade stakes or other guidelines available.
- Pay is dependent on experience, endorsements, and qualifications, but will range from $20 - $35/hour, with the potential to make up to $40+/hour on Federal funded Davis-Bacon wages projects.
Haul Truck Driver
Cole Excavating is a family owned and operated company located in Greene, IA since 1974 and currently employs 20+ people. Due to company and industry growth, we are currently hiring Haul Truck Drivers to drive semi w/side dump trailer and/or dump truck/pup. Driver may also need to fill in as lowboy driver hauling equipment from time to time. An ideal candidate will meet the following requirements:
- Operate, maneuver and navigate haul truck in and out of jobsites.
- Will haul material to specific areas on jobsites to reach specific grades.
- Will work closely with the excavator operator and dozer operator.
- Steady use of hands and arms in positioning levers, switches, and controls. Will also use legs with climbing, lifting, and walking.
- Must know how the dump box works, which shifters to push/pull to dump material.
- Must know how to back the haul truck up to get loaded by the excavator in different situations.
- Must keep accurate count of loads and the type of material hauled.
- Pay is dependent on experience, endorsements, and qualifications, but will range from $20 - $30/hour, with the potential to make up to $30+/hour on Federal funded Davis-Bacon wages projects.
Skilled Laborer/Pipe Layer
Cole Excavating is a family owned and operated company located in Greene, IA since 1974 and currently employs 20+ people. Due to company and industry growth, we are currently hiring Skilled Laborers. An ideal candidate will meet the following requirements:
- Will have good time management skills.
- Will be able to apply good problem solving & conflict resolution skills.
- Will need to have good hand, eye coordination to run different equipment if necessary.
- Will perform general physical activities that require the use of arms and legs and moving the whole body, such as climbing, lifting, and walking.
- Will be able to multi-task various things going on at once.
- Pay is dependent on experience, endorsements, and qualifications, but will range from $20 - $30/hour, with the potential to make up to $30+/hour on Federal funded Davis-Bacon wages projects.
